Synopsis

Haunted by her mother’s death and recurring attacks by Israeli forces on her city, a young girl becomes obsessed with death. To distract her, her father makes a stop-motion film. However, his attempts fail, and the girl is left with only her imagination as a means to escape reality.

Biography

Majdi El-Omari is a Canadian Palestinian filmmaker, editor, and scriptwriter who pursued a bachelor of fine arts in filmmaking from Egypt’s Cairo Institute of Cinema and a masters of fine arts in film production from Concordia University in Montreal, Canada.

El-Omari’s work usually focuses on people’s suffering from a world that excludes them, focusing on their alienation, desire to communicate, and search for solace while they confront political or social forces. Several of his shorts have been selected for international festivals.

His filmography includes several documentaries and short films, such as Standstill, Between me and you, At the window, À propos de l’autre, and The Evergreen Oak. Currently, he is writing his next feature film, The Woman of the Bees, and is teaching fiction filmmaking at Dar Al-Kalima University in Bethlehem.
